How do I make ghee? It is all about DIY ghee-making. It is no doubt an easy process. But you must be organized and diligent in your ghee-making endeavor to produce quality ghee.
The use of high-quality, unadulterated butter is essential. You can make butter at home from high-quality milk or buy quality butter (an unsalted, grass-fed butter variety is a better option).
A slow cooking process is used for ghee making. You have to boil butter against a low flame. Keep on discarding the foam accumulated on the boiled butter surface. During butter boiling, the milk-solid part of the butter (lactose and casein) gets deposited at the bottom of the boiling pan. It is called ghee residue.
Once the yellowish refined butterfat separates in the boiling pan, you may assume that ghee is prepared. Now, use a ghee strainer or cheesecloth to strain/filter the ghee and store it in an airtight container.
