How do I make ghee? It is all about DIY ghee-making. It is no doubt an easy process. But you must be organized and diligent in your ghee-making process to produce quality ghee.
The use of pure butter is essential. You may make butter at home from pure milk or buy quality butter (unsalted and grass-fed butter variety is a better option).
A slow cooking process does ghee making. You have to boil butter against a low flame. Keep on discarding the foam accumulated on the boiled butter surface. During butter boiling, the milk-solid part of the butter (lactose and casein) gets deposited at the bottom of the boiling pan. It is called ghee residue.
Once the yellowish pure butterfat gets separated in the boiling pan, you may assume that ghee is prepared. Now use a ghee strainer or cheesecloth to strain/filter ghee to store it in an airtight container.
