Ghee Testing Lab is a ghee assessment point that checks the quality of the ghee oil.

Ghee Testing Lab has a vital role to play in the production process. Also referred to as ‘clarified butter, ghee is a dairy staple used in kitchens globally. However, there have been a lot of cases regarding the adulteration of ghee.

Many times, rancid ghee is sold in the market in the name of pure ghee. It happens because it possesses a similar texture and color as ghee. However, considering the importance, use, and benefits of pure ghee, keeping a thorough check on its purity becomes exceptionally vital.

That said, the ghee testing lab works on checking the purity, quality, ingredient, and shelf-life of ghee. Although it might not be possible for you to test your regular ghee in a lab, you can try out some easy techniques at home.

Ghee testing lab at home: DIY Methods to check ghee purity.

  • Method 1:A straightforward way to test the purity of ghee is to heat it in a teaspoon. If it melts instantly and turns into a sort of dark brownish color, you can rest assured that it is pure ghee. If it takes time and turns into a light yellow color, you may assume the quality is compromised.
  • Method 2:Melt some in a jar with the help of the double boiler method. Consequently, put this jar in the refrigerator. If you see two separate freezing layers, one layer is ghee, and another is coconut oil.
  • Method 3:Take one tablespoon of ghee in a test tube and heat it. Add concentrated HCL and sugar in equal amounts. Shake well. Notice the appearance of pink and red in the bottom layer. If you find the red oink hue at the bottom, the ghee is not pure. It tampered with vegetable oils.
  •      Method 4:Take a teaspoon of ghee on your palm. Start rubbing it. Notice if it melts by itself. If yes, it’s pure. If not, it has some blending in it.
  •      Method 5:Mix a little bit of iodine solution with melted ghee. If the iodine solution turns purple from brown color, bear in mind that you are consuming adulterated ghee with starch.
