  • Take a large stock pan, and add yellow lentils, vegetable broth, turmeric, cayenne, and salt. Bring the mix to a slow simmer.
  • Cover the pan partially with a lid and allow the mix to be cooked for at least 20 minutes. If you prefer to prepare a smooth curry you may allow it to simmer for 30 to 40. You can add a bit of water if needed to maintain the desired consistency.
  • Now take a separate skillet and sauté onion, cumin seeds, and clove in the ghee for 3-5 minutes over medium heat, until onions get soft.
  • Add onions and spices to yellow lentils and allow it to simmer for some more times, and meanwhile keep on stirring well to combine all the ingredients well. Add a dash of black pepper and salt to taste, if needed.
  • Dal may tend to get thick as it gets cooled, so you may add a bit more water in it. However, you may need to add some melted ghee at the end of the recipe cooking. It will add better flavor and will enhance the consistency of the cooked curry.
