How Do You Tell If the Ghee You Are Using is Eatable?

If the product’s expiry date goes away or you are worried if the ghee is good enough to eat, you can look out for several signs. Whenever you notice the below-mentioned changes in your jar of ghee, stop eating it right away:

  • If the ghee catches mold, it would smell and look different. Usually, when the ghee is not in good condition, it will not smell like a dairy product. Also, it will taste sour and will go white.
  • If there is a mold in the jar of the ghee or discoloration, don’t eat it. Discard the product.

If you should apprehend that something is not right after storing the ghee for 12-18 months, it can be the smell or color, then don’t use it anymore. But should ghee be refrigerated if it smells terrible? Well, it’s probably not a good idea to do so because the item is already a wastage.

Can Storing Ghee In Refrigerators Avoid It Getting Mould?

Most of the ghee manufacturers advise the buyers to store the pantry product and not in the fridge. However, putting it in the fridge won’t hurt, and it may last a couple of months more in this way.

Whatever you do, make sure to keep it away from direct sunlight and ensure its lid is always tightly closed.
